Kamehameha Schools was founded by the will of Bernice Pauahi Bishop, the great-granddaughter of Kamehameha the Great. Pauahi Keiki Scholars (PKS) is a need-based scholarship. The application process for the 2022-2023 school year is open to eligible preschool-aged students planning to attend a participating PKS preschool in Hawai‘i.
Take that next step with a scholarship from the Pauahi Foundation. The Pauahi Foundation administers scholarships that have been created by our generous donors. The Foundation awards scholarships supporting undergraduate and graduate level areas of study, as well as trade and vocational courses.
Keiki must be enrolled in preschool summer school to receive assistance. Can my keiki receive another subsidy (e.g. Preschool Open Doors (POD) or Childcare Connections (CCC)) and PKS? Yes. KS will adjust the award and will notify parents of award amount change via FACTS.
No. The PKS award will not cover for kindergarten summer school and the PKS award will be terminated. Keiki must be enrolled in preschool summer school to receive assistance.
Awards will remain the same as prior year: Grade K-5: $7,000; Grade 6-12: $9,000.
We have waived PKS parent quarterly requirements (PQRs) for all quarters of the 2021-2022 school year. Families do not need to complete or submit service hours or attendance requirements in the Ho‘oulu Kaiāulu Parent Portal (HKPP) in order to maintain their keiki’s PKS scholarships for the 2021-2022 school year.
