What is required for a child in grade 7 in Minnesota?

Minnesota law requires that all students entering grade 7 show proof of: Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (Tdap): booster. Meningococcal (MCV4): 1st dose.

Buddy Family Coordinator (s)

Work with Advancement office to match families new to STA with volunteer buddy families. Communicates contact information with both families. Plan social events for all buddy families throughout the year.

Library Coordinator (s) LS & US

Organize weekly volunteer by homeroom to work the Lower School or Upper School Library though signup genius. Coordinate, prepare and assist with week-long Scholastic Book Fair. Help with annual events such as Bluebonnet, Six Flags Reading and author visits.

Field Day Coordinator (s) Upper School

Oversee all elements of Field Day event coordinated with PE department and homerooms.

Lower School Recess Coordinator (s)

Manage annual budget for Recess equipment; purchase recess equipment; weekly equipment check for wear and tear; store excess equipment in designated area. Gather and manage lists of volunteers by grade/times for daily recess monitor via signup genius. Oversee all elements for Field Day event coordinated with PE department and homerooms.

Science Lab Coordinator (s) LS & US

Schedule parent volunteers via signup genius to help science teacher in the Science Lab for Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd grade classes for lower school, and for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade classes at upper school.

Upper School Arts Material Parent (AMP) Coordinators

Work with US Art Teacher to prepare needed materials/supplies for the Art Room classes and shows.

Lower School Fine Arts Coordinator (s)

Liaison between Art Teacher and the Head Room Parent for each class and parent volunteers. Recruit and manage volunteers through signup genius to help with various art department needs. Coordinate Fall Scarecrow Project.

For my last assignment of the year, I am asking my students to write what I am titling as “Till Next Time Notes.” Using their newfound emailing skills, I am asking every student to send out a minimum of three notes. In a recorded video, I outlined four possible models in which students could administer these notes.

Currently, my Rhetorical Skills class is in the middle acts of William Shakespeare’s tragedy, Romeo & Juliet. Teaching Shakespeare’s works is an area that I truly enjoy. With that said, teaching Shakespeare through distance learning has brought about certain challenges.

This semester my senior elective class, A Hero’s Journey has been examining and reading passages of mythology from various ancient cultures. After recently wrapping up a unit centered in Norse mythology, we turned our focus to Greek mythology.

This past week my American Literature and Composition classes wrapped up their “Truth of War” unit. The center point of the unit was the reading of Tim O’Brien’s novel, The Things They Carried . One of the main driving questions of the unit was posed by Tim O’Brien himself with his chapter titled, “What Makes a True War Story?”
