What happens if a student fails STAAR? Schools must offer accelerated instruction to students who don't pass the STAAR or end-of-course exams. The additional help could include assigning a student to an experienced teacher's classroom or delivering extra tutoring during the next school year or in the summer.
In 2019, 51% of students met grade level, and that number rose to 57% in 2022. Texas students in third through 12th grade take the STAAR tests, and the results for grades 3-8 will be released on June 24.
The passing standard for STAAR assessments is Approaches Grade Level. A student who scores at or above this level has passed the STAAR test, but a student who scores within Did Not Meet Grade Level has not passed.
No matter what grade your child is in, this grade 5 sample report will help you read the report, understand your child's STAAR results and see his or her progress from the previous year.
Your child’s scores include performance scores for each subject area. Here are the performance levels and what they mean:
Summative academic tests for students with significant cognitive disabilities.
English language proficiency test for English learners with significant cognitive disabilities.
